Rusudan Gotsiridze, Bishop of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia, is the first female bishop in Georgia. Bishop Rusudan is one of Georgia’s first religious leaders to advocate LGBTQ rights in Georgia; she stands against gender-based violence and supports religious minorities living in the country. In her sermons, Bishop Gotsiridze often raises questions of discrimination, racism and tolerance. In 2014 the U.S. State Department honored Rusudan Gotsiridze with its International Women of Courage Award.
