Synopsis

Competition Status – Special Mention

Druja and Piedruja are a mere 200 meters apart, separated by the western Dźvina (Daugava) River. Once upon a time people could swim across the river freely. Today, Druja is in Belarus and Piedruja in Latvia, separated by a visa regime and 90 km highway. Residents of these two localities explain how the changes have affected their lives.
