Synopsis

Akhalkalaki is a Georgian region inhibited mostly by an Armenian ethnic minority. These people face even greater challenges than the country’s majority population. A major reason for this is insufficient social and economic integration. It is essential for new agricultural technologies and mechanization to become available to agricultural workers in this region. The film shows the story of a local farmers’ cooperative in Akhalkalaki composed mostly of women. These women decided to dramatically improve the lives of their families by organizing to grow potatoes, first with their bare hands and later using mechanization provided to them by the ENPARD program. The film tells the success story of determined ethnic minority housewives who united their aspirations to support their families and succeeded with support from ENPARD.
