In the first decade of the XIX century, German colonists started to settle in Georgia. By the end of 1819, there were eight German colonies in Georgia. They supported themselves mainly by agricultural works.
In 1930-1940 repressions initiated by the Soviet Union also disturbed “Georgian Germans.” Some of them were shot, and others banished to “Gulags” of Siberia and Kazakhstan. One of the main characters of the movie is 105 years old Frida Meyer, who spent 20 years in “Gulag.” She tells stories about the tragedy of her family and herself.
