The Georgian village of Dvani is located at the provisional border with Georgia’s breakaway Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region.
Russian border guards have built barbed wire fences here. Part of peasants’ lands is now situated on the occupied territories, beyond the barbed wire fences. Local and international media called this process – borderisation.
Barbed wire fences, tension regarding the conventional boundaries, the living conditions of people at the borderline villages, and other issues quite often attract the attention of journalists who frequently visit Dvani and similar nearby settlements
