Azerbaijani people in Georgia are the country’s most significant ethnic minority. Around 300,000 ethnic Azerbaijanis are living in Georgia; mostly in rural areas like Kvemo Kartli, Kakheti, Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti. There is also a large historical Azerbaijani community in the capital city of Tbilisi and smaller communities in other regions.
Unemployment is the main problem among Azerbaijani population f Georgia. The main reason for unemployment is the lack of state language knowledge. This factor generates informational vacuum and therefore contributes to the isolation of this region.
After the Orange revolution, the situation improved. Georgian government set the state program where non-Georgian speakers can learn the language.
