The Keshish Dag Temple Complex (also known as Garaja Temple and David Garechi Monastery) – is an ancient Albanian temple located on the border of Azerbaijan and Georgia, in disputed territory.
Situated at a height of 850 meters above sea level and covering a large geographical area, one part of the temple complex is located in the Sagarejo district of Georgia, while the other part is situated in the Agstafa region of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani and Georgian sources do not agree on the history of the temple’s origins. Azerbaijani sources state that the temple is of ancient Albanian origin and therefore belongs to the cultural heritage of Caucasian Albania. In contrast, most Georgian sources claim that the temple has Georgian roots and was influenced by the Georgian Orthodox Church.
